Overview
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely alongside Barnet Council to provide them with Youth Offending Team Officer on a 3-6 month contract which is likely to be extended into a long-term contract. This role is 36 hours per week and offers a pay rate of £18.00 - £23.00 per hour . This may be negotiable dependent on your experience. As a successful Youth Offending Team Officer, you will be: Protecting the public from offending and harm and to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour being committed by young people aged 10-18. We work with Barnet young people aged 10-18 and their carers throughout a number of key stages to reduce first time entrants into the criminal justice system, to reduce offending by those already involved in the criminal justice system and to reduce the risk of harm to the community. Your duties may include: To manage a caseload and undertake direct work with children, young people and their parents/carers, including lone working, undertaking home visits and meeting young people at other community venues. To use ASSET/ASSETPlus and other assessment tools to gather and analyse information that leads to an accurate in-depth understanding of a young person’s offending behaviour. To make accurate, clear assessments of risk in relation to harm to the public, dangerousness, re-offending and vulnerability and to develop and implement a risk management plan. To supervise the statutory orders that children and young people become subject to that are the responsibility of the Youth Offending Service To prepare pre-sentence, referral order reports and other reports according to national standards. To represent the Youth Offending Service at the Youth Court and other Courts, including the Crown Court as required To work in partnership with children’s service social work teams to provide support for young people remanded to Local Authority accommodation to enable them to remain in the community and reduce any risk of re-offending. This role may include possible out of hours working To be considered for this position, you will have the following knowledge/experience: a) Qualifications: Related degree or relatable experience in a similar field Valid UK Driving licence (access to own vehicle) is desirable b) Experience: Experience as a youth offending team officer Experience of working with children and young people who are challenging or hard to engage with Experience of direct working with offenders Experience of working within a statutory framework c) Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of Every Child Matters, Children Act 2004 Knowledge and understanding of Pan London Child Protection Procedures Knowledge and understanding of the youth justice system Knowledge and understanding of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 Knowledge and understanding of the Youth Justice Board National Standards and Criminal Justice Act 2003 If you wish to be put forward, please apply below and contact Dale Singh Spencer Clarke Group. / WHY SPENCER CLARKE?
