Deputy National Statistician and Director General - Data Capability Apply before 11:55 pm on Thursday 7th May 2020 Fareham, London, Newport Are you ready to lead us in delivering ambitious plans within data capability? As Deputy National Statistician and Director General for Data Capability you will lead on enabling the use of data at ONS and across the Government Statistical Service to deliver a step change in the evidence base of the nation. This is a high-profile post, responsible for the leadership of all aspects of data capability at ONS. You will be a key member of the National Statistician’s Executive Group and will report regularly to the Board of the UK Statistics Authority. Your core responsibility will be working across all government departments to ensure that the statistical system has the right capabilities for the 21st century. You will develop the ability of the Government Statistical Service to blend statistical methods with data science to create a coherent and cutting-edge cadre of analytic methods. Working closely with other analytic professions and with the Government Digital Service, you will build on work already underway to embed the principles of open data and digital by default. You will help drive the transformation of data services available to analysts, decision-makers and the public, mobilising data held by departments and providing an authoritative and compelling public face for the agenda.
