Overview
Research Proposal / Programme Manager. (Pharmaceutical / Academia) Within this role you'll take lead on a variety of responsibilities & programme deliveries in line with the needs of the Commercial Program Management pillar, writing ambitious pre-clinical medicinal R&D programme proposals. You must be comfortable with picking up concepts & scenarios quickly & adeptly identifying risk & opportunities to shape world-class ROI-driven business cases & research programs. Title: Research Proposal / Programme Manager. (Pharmaceutical / Academia) Salary: c£50,000 - £70,000 pa dependant on experience with benefits package. Start: ASAP. Client will wait for the right person. Location: London based with flexible working and occasional travel to South West UK. Duration: Permanent appointment. You will be joining a unique client while part of a pioneering Group of Companies is a fully funded, stand-alone Research and Development Life Sciences company in pre revenue stage but with partners and clients already committed. Reporting to the Chief Science Officer you'll be responsible for developing robust & detailed research programmes and proposals in line with strategic programme objectives, supporting Principal Investigators' in experimental design, costing & resource modelling applying knowledge & experience to determine the optimal approach. You'll ensure proposals are clinically, scientifically & technically appropriate & instructionally sound, by participating in proposal initiation calls with internal stakeholders to obtain details & direction for proposal development, confirming timelines, R&D focus, Intellectual Property management & intended outcomes. As a result you'll write clear & succinct needs assessments that provide evidence for identified research gaps, that are supported by internal & external data & use internal templates & tools to write proposals to tell a compelling story on the rationale, intent, & value of the proposed R&D programme. Based on input from cross-functional internal & external proposal reviewers, including the company's scientific advisory board, external experts & company R&D partners, you'll also incorporate revisions to ensure high-quality programme development & improved likelihood of impactful outcomes. Skills You'll of course have proven experience in writing grant/business cases proposals in academic or commercial life science, pharma, biotech or clinical settings, with a superior ability to incorporate data, visuals into a compelling written narrative that substantiates the purpose of the proposed work. You may have a PhD (preferably in a life science-related specialty), but it is not essential. What is though is the ability to deliver results with minimum supervision by leading the production of novel & innovative programmes of research. So you'll possess superior communication & interpersonal skills (encompassing verbal, written, listening) including excellent editorial (editing & writing) skills, preferably in the area of grant/proposal & needs assessment development. While process oriented, you are able to find new ways to improve existing processes & to learn & adapt to evolving processes. You'll have a flexible mind-set, so excellent time management & organisational skills to manage multiple projects & tasks simultaneously in a highly deadline-driven environment, while taking into consideration stakeholders based across multiple business functions comes naturally to you.
