We ideally looking for this post to commence from 1st March 2020. We have a total of 8 premises, and state-of-the-art facilities located on Harley Street where we perform highly complex procedures as well as routine surgery and medicine. Job Description In this post you will complement an existing Clinical Fellow, and work closely with the consultant HPB and Upper GI surgeons (6 in total, including our Medical Director, Mr Satya Bhattacharya), as well as the nursing staff to deliver a high level of care to our patients. Job Type: Full-Time, 12 month fixed term contract, with a possibility of further extension. Hours/Shifts: 45 hours per week / Shifts: 8am - 6pm (Monday to Friday), with no out-of-hours commitments. Salary: Up to £56,100 per annum plus a comprehensive benefits package with an option to potentially support with bench fees for those engaged in research. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for the clinical care, surgical assistance and supervision of patients (inpatients, day cases and outpatients), including admitting patients to The London Clinic. Assist consultant surgeons in the operating rooms and outpatient clinics. Participate in daily ward rounds, attend to urgent admissions and acutely unwell patients, as well as attend Cancer MDTs and audit/educational meetings. Work in close liaison with the nursing team, and other members of the multidisciplinary team including, Hepatobillary Clinical Assistants, ICU Fellows, Resident Medical Officers and GI/Hepatobiliary Specialist Nurses, to ensure a high standard of patient care is delivered. Support and encourage education and training within all staff areas, to continuously improve and strive for excellence, for staff and patients. Ensure all records are accurately maintained and utilised, including manual and computerised records for reporting and audit procedures. Skills & Experience Full GMC Registration with License to Practice. MBBS degree or equivalent, and ideally an MRCS/FRCS. Registrar level (Higher Surgical Trainee Years 4-8). Acute Medicine and/or Surgical Ward experience in a multi-specialist hospital. Experience in assisting in theatre and performing routine procedures, for example, emergency CPR, ECGs, pre-operative ECG exams, and the insertion of IV lines. Effective communication and clinical decision making skills, with the ability to diagnose 'red flag signs’ associated with medical and surgical support. Your responsibilities and educational opportunities in this post can be tailored to your level of experience. This is also a unique opportunity for senior trainees (from the UK and overseas) who have acquired their CCST and wish to develop their skills further before taking up a consultant post. Previous appointees to this post have moved on to specialist training rotations in the NHS or to consultant positions in the UK or abroad.
