IT Infrastructure Engineer - 2nd/3rd Line - Stoke on Trent Are you an aspiring Infrastructure Engineer, bored of your day to day 2nd line work and yearning for the chance to do a more interesting role with a varied tech stack? If this is a bit of you, then I might have just the thing for you. There's a lot going on project wise here, from getting rid of some of the technical debt and upgrading to new physical tech right up to getting involved in migration work to Office 365 so if variety is high on your list of things you want out of a job, this one will score well. What will you be doing? You're 3rd line support, [you'll provide the escalation point and bridge the skills gap between and 2nd line and the Senior engineers Monitor and fault find around the IT Infrastructure to ensure maximum availability and performance where possible. Design, implementation, testing of new tech, and processes. Assist in the implementation, and constant review of Group information security policies working alongside the Cyber Security Team. Support junior staff by way of coaching and Knowledge transfer. Skills & Experience: Skills/experience with as many of the below as possible (you won't be expected to be an expert in all of them but if you say you can do something, expect to be asked about it in interview). The tech stack below gives a good flavour of what they are using currently. Experience in an IT Support role focusing on software and hardware fault resolution, in a 2nd or 3rd line role. Windows 2003 - 2019 Server core services. VMWare, including maintenance and provisioning. Knowledge of core networking services - e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RDP, SNMP, LDAP, Kerberos Networking skills - e.g. switching, routing, VLANs, PoE, WLAN, MPLS NAS / SAN storage infrastructures Knowledge of Mobile Device Management Knowledge of Avaya telephony systems Knowledge of UCS is an advantage Ability to manage conflicting priorities, multitask and meet deadlines Strong analytical and problem-solving ability in complex technical landscapes Active Directory and Exchange (2003 - O365) Server Administration. MS Office up to O365 Understanding of hardware set-up and configuration IT related Degree and/or Microsoft certifications - MSCE, MCITP Full Driving License and access to own transport Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal It's not your average 2nd/3rd Line role where you work all hours but only get paid for what's in your contract, they believe that if you put in the work, you get rewarded for it so there's always extra opportunity for financial gains to be made if you want it.
