Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and innovative Registered Nurse Learning Disability with extensive experience, knowledge and expertise in supporting adults and children with learning disabilities within the context of specialist health services. As a Nurse Consultant you will work autonomously managing your own workload whilst continuing to develop and apply your knowledge and skills to a broad range of clinically and professionally challenging and complex situations. You will provide expert knowledge in order to address the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities who may show behavioural distress using a model of Positive Behaviour Support. You will be the trust lead for this, demonstrating your ability to clinically implement this model in practice and also develop and train others to do so. The post holder will complete a minimum of 50% of their time in direct clinical practice supporting the Community Learning Disability Children's team. This will involve running nurse led clinics, offering consultation and advice and supporting with the independent prescribing element of the service, for which training will be provided if necessary. You will support and inspire colleagues and enhance the development of clinical practice. The post holder will have a broad range of skills in effective leadership, strategic decision making and research and education. They will be a senior clinical leader within the Trust and as such will undertake some work which cuts across other clinical areas.
