Overview

With more advances in cystic fibrosis treatment than ever before, and a host of new treatments in the pipeline, this is an exciting time for the cystic fibrosis community. The Clinical Trials Accelerator Platform aims to support the CF community gain access to the newest CF treatments being developed by taking part in clinical trials. Through our network of participating CF Centres, national team of CF Trial Coordinators and online information, we provide a platform to help children and adults with CF take part in clinical trials happening around the UK. A key workstream of CTAP is Patient & Public Involvement (PPI).  This is an industry recognized term for collaborative communication and working between researchers, pharmaceutical companies and people living with CF. This has been proven to lead to better designed trials, consequently increasing participation and retention of participants in trials for the benefit of sponsors, but also in raising awareness of trials activity, increasing understanding of the trials process and confidence in participation for the benefit of the CF community.  This new and exciting role of the Involvement Coordinator would be to support the Involvement Manager with the facilitation and coordination of PPI activity for the CTAP programme. PPI activity will comprise of facilitating collaboration between pharmaceutical companies and members of the PPI groups to include document review, participation in focus group discussions, completion of pilot interviews or membership of project committees.
