Job Description
Biffa Plc is looking for a Maintenance Technician to work at our PRF in Wigan. The Wigan PRF is an exciting new plastic sorting plant, designed to accept, process and dispatch up to 1,000 Tonnes per week of recyclable plastic bottles. Biffa is making significant investment into the state of the art facility in order to be able to handle recyclable mixed bottles within the UK, with the outputs of the plant an essential feedstock for the companys food grade plastic recycling facilities in the North East (Biffa Polymers). The new facility in Wigan boosts Biffas processing capacity and supports the country's long term plan to find new ways to reuse plastics, as detailed in DEFRA's recent Resource & Waste Strategy. To support this new business an exciting opportunity now exists for a number of experienced Maintenance Technicians to join the business. With a proven record of maintenance engineering behind you, you will have experience in providing essential electrical or mechanical support on production and ancillary machinery with clear evidence of maintaining a safe working environment. Experience of plastic processing and extrusion machinery, or automated manufacturing machinery would be an advantage but is not a prerequisite. To succeed at this role, you will need a formal qualification in engineering and have suitable practical maintenance engineering experience. A confident communicator with good working knowledge of machine safety and maintenance techniques is required.
