Job Description

Operations Finance Accountant, Basingstoke Working within Thermo Fisher Scientific's Specialty Diagnostic Group, for the Microbiology Division (MBD), this role provides a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant with manufacturing experience who is looking to join a global organization that supports individuals to develop and achieve their best. This role will report into the site operations finance manager and form a key part of the operations finance team. Please note this a Fixed term Contract for 15 months, covering maternity leave. The successful candidate will work within the operations finance team as an operations finance accountant providing the site leadership team with finance support and challenge, driving better decisions and ultimately help ensure the most efficient use of company funds. The role is based at our Basingstoke site though occasional travel to other MBD sites may also be required. What will you do? * Strong business partnering with operations, Supply chain and sourcing management teams, helping to shape practices and strategies to add value and maintain cost effectiveness. * Develop robust processes and scorecards to provide visibility to savings, restructuring costs, investments and overall financial performance on execution of all Operations initiatives. * Management of all fixed assets accounting, review and impairment at the Basingstoke site across all departments. * Support the preparation of the MBD financial and operational reporting & bridge commentary * Operations accounting, cost centre review & inventory control * Support the development of strong processes to enable regular standard cost updates and to ensure product costing is reliable and accurate. * Prepare material cost and overhead cost analysis * Factory waste analysis and inventory excess & obsolete provisioning * Drive inventory efficiency programme * Track site productivity and drive continuous process improvement at the site * Analyse monthly and quarterly performance, with particular focus on KPIs and variance analysis against Plan, forecast, Prior Quarter & Prior Year * Participate in the annual budgets (AOP) and monthly forecasts for Operations * Work with MBD UK shared service and US corporate teams for statutory reporting, tax and legislative compliance e.g. annual reports, transfer pricing * Build financial models for capital investment appraisals and support business case proposals * Drive continuous process improvement within the finance function * Ad hoc projects as required Who we are looking for:(input experience, skills & abilities) * Professional accountancy qualification - ACA/CA/CIMA/ACCA * Advanced user of MS Office Suite - Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook * Clear communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance colleagues * Deep knowledge of P&L and working capital drivers within a manufacturing environment * Experience of working with key functional stakeholders to Director level * Desire for career advancement within Thermo Fisher Scientific Preferred Qualifications: * CIMA qualified * Significant experience in a manufacturing environment * Working knowledge of SAP business system * Experience of Hyperion Financial Management tools What's in it for you: * List benefits & opportunities to progress/training/learning - specific to each business area/site * About us: Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is the world leader in serving science, with annual revenue exceeding $25 billion.
