We are recruiting an adviser into our learning and development team. About Macfarlanes We are an independent London-based law firm with a high profile client base from around the world. Main purpose of job Macfarlanes has an established and highly regarded learning and development function that supports the ongoing development of all members of staff. The team is responsible for six role-specific development programmes as well as regular firm-wide initiatives and creating individualised learning opportunities. We are looking to appoint an experienced learning and development professional to join the team at adviser level. The successful candidate will be a highly efficient organiser, with the ability to deliver excellent work under pressure. They will demonstrate a proactive approach to their responsibilities as well as a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. Clear and confident communication skills are a must as the role involves training delivery and dealing with internal clients and external contacts on a regular basis. The role Key areas of work will include: * Responsibility for the trainee and paralegal development programmes including programme review and development. * Designing/re-designing and delivering training to the trainee, paralegal, business service and secretarial populations with support from the learning and development managers. * Working with employees 1:1 on development areas as appropriate. * Developing and maintaining effective working relationships within the firm, building confidence, trust and respect. * Building strong relationships with external suppliers to ensure effective design and delivery of all training solutions. * Managing learning and development projects. * Raising the profile of learning and development and encouraging a learning culture within the firm. * Assisting with the organisation of development centres. * Supporting the learning and development managers with development programmes and firm wide initiatives. * Working with the senior learning and development manager on projects as required. * Developing junior members of the team. * Supporting the graduate recruitment team with assessment centres, vacation schemes and ad hoc events. * Keeping up to date with the latest approaches to learning and development. The candidate Experience: Essential: * Degree educated (or equivalent) or CIPD qualified. * Experience working in a busy learning and development role, ideally within a law or professional services firm. * Experience of training delivery. Desirable: * Experience overseeing training programmes. * Experience managing or delivering projects. * Experience working with individuals 1:1 on development areas. Skills: * Excellent communication and presentation skills. * Efficient and effective working style. * Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines. * Excellent attention to detail. * Strong project management and organisational skills. * Experience of using learning management systems.
