Eden Scott's client is an innovative and forward-thinking Renewable Energy organisation with a dedicated and passionate team of professionals. They are looking for a dynamic and approachable Health & Safety Advisor that will work as an integral team member within the SHEQ and compliance department, assisting the development and operations teams, in the day to day management of all site Health, Safety and associated Compliance issues, within our energy recovery/anaerobic digestion facility, in South Ayrshire. Key duties of the role * Assist the UK Head of SHEQ & Compliance in delivery of the SHEQ Strategy and associated Local Action Plans. * Drive positive EHS cultural change setting an example encouraging others to follow, engaging others to embrace change creating a safer working environment. * Maintain contact with official and professional bodies, e.g. Health and Safety Executive, Environmental Health Officer, Fire Authorities, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and other safety organisations. * Conduct & carryout monthly internal compliance audits of site; report on findings and manage outstanding actions through to completion * Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports and documents as required. * Carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant forms. * Oversee robust working relationships with Operations staff and Contractors and manage the health & safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements of all. * Foster within the site an understanding that safety and accident prevention are an integral part of business and operational efficiency * Attend progress meetings both as part of the SHEQ team and in relation to site meetings, as appropriate. * Advise operational management and staff on all aspects of Health & Safety. Bring to the attention of the Leadership Team any relevant new legislation. * Engage with employees, visitors and contractors who carry out work do so in a safe manner, effectively managed and controlled, escalating where required safety concerns to the Senior Leadership Team. * Implement practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices in the workplace. * Identify areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance. * Conduct/organise relevant health and safety training for staff as required. Arrange Health & Safety training/certification once identified. * Ensure all risk assessments as required by legislation, are regularly reviewed at relevant intervals, maintaining records, and providing training and guidance to staff where required. * Work collectively with other members of the SHEQ team to ensure a consistent approach to Policies across the business and implement delivery of the Safety Management System (GDMS). Person Specification * The successful candidate will need to be dynamic in their role and be able to work as part of the SHEQ Team and deliver the strategic safety objectives of the business. * The successful candidate will provide advice and support to operations, ensuring pro-active and proportionate approach to SHEQ compliance whilst aiding the continuous improvement in productivity and site performance. * To co-ordinate, support and advise the Business on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety. To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety are adhered to. * Ensure they keep up to date with changes in current legislation and implement such changes where relevant. * Demonstrate attendance on courses/seminars run by external sources to enable accurate interpretation of legislation to enable implementation within the organisation. * Set an example through high personal standards in the application of health and safety. * Previous, demonstrable experience operating in a similar H&S Advisor role.
