The Emergency Department at RIE is one of the busiest in Scotland with an average daily attendance of approximately 350 patients. It serves as a tertiary receiving centre for Lothian and Border regions. The pharmacy service at The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh (RIE) has recently extended our clinical pharmacy team into the Emergency Department at RIE. This is a new and exciting opportunity for a passionate and ambitious pharmacist to work closely with the ED multi-disciplinary team in a patient focused role to optimise medicines use, support patient flow and contribute towards ongoing development of the clinical pharmacy service to ED. The post holder will be a key member of the well established Acute Medicine Pharmacy team and will work closely with pharmacy colleagues across the service. Candidates must have a Master of Pharmacy degree or equivalent; be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and ideally have completed or be working towards a post graduate clinical diploma including an independent prescribing qualification. Ideally, candidates will have experience pro-actively influencing prescribing within a secondary care environment, and will have gained experience working in a patient focussed environment using their knowledge and skills to improve patient care and promote optimal outcomes from medicines. Public holiday, weekend service and on-call service requirements are included in this post.
