Apprenticeship Placement Qualification : Library, Information & Archive Services Assistant Level 3 Location : Client placement Salary : c.140 p/w Hours : 35 hours p/w About LMP Group LMP Group focuses on education, training and social impact; working together to bring about positive, sustainable change. LMP Education, is a division of LMP Group and provides apprenticeship training. Job Purpose LIAS (Librarian, Archive and Services) Assistants will help users find information and resources they need in order to resolve specific queries. User needs may vary and could include finding textbooks to support their learning; legal materials to support law activities and many more. Responsibilities: It is not exhaustive, and it is not intended that every Librarian Apprentice will undertake the full range of tasks: * Provide basic inductions to new library users or inform new colleges of the process required to securely record information/resources * Promote use of library resources and assist in the preparation of library guides, information packs, and induction packs * Produce displays and other promotional material, and contribute to outreach activities * Work on the library enquiry desk as arranged by the Deputy Manager and assist library users with information enquiries, photocopier and basic IT queries, referring more complex queries to more senior members of staff * Daily checks regarding books being in the required place to be found easily and documentation has been stored correctly, as well as secured if confidential * Attend and take part in team meetings & regular reviews with line manager * Add & maintain library user records in the Library Management system in accordance with data protection, to ensure the data is accurate and up to date * Provide basic inductions to new library users or inform colleges of the process required to record information/resources * Ability to Acquire, receive, record, circulate and develop collections of physical and digital resources. * How to administer and support the management and development of collections. * Become vigilant in the way a librarian has to operate to be efficient. * Able to understand the needs of people using information in all its formats including digital (e.g. eBooks, video files, electronic documents, online content) and analogue/physical (e.g. collections, books, journals, newspapers, DVDs/CDs etc). All Apprentices are required to attend learning sessions by LMP Education; this is essential in order to work towards the end qualification. Failure to adhere to this may result in a loss of placement or removal from our recruiting database Experience Essential Skills * Essential: Grade A*-C (or new equivalent) in English and Maths * Good interpersonal and communication skills, this is essential when communicating to colleges or users requesting information. * Organisation with documentation, able to follow processes put in place to log important resources. * Desire to meet and serve the Library's user community or college requests * An active plus consistent working manner. Personal Qualities * Ability to deliver tasks and work toward deadlines * Confidence and ability to establish effective working relationships * Expresses Self direction / Self-management * Able to process information both mentally and physically Work Environment Your work environment for the nature of this role will be based on site at a client office location, this can vary depending upon our client's needs and geographical location.Your role will usually be based at a head office or regional site with certain assessment days and training periods being held off site.Our clients are professional, ambitious and focus on employee growth & development.
