An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We are looking to recruit a Lead Matron for Mental Health on a full time permanent basis who will lead on improving services for patients who require mental health care across the acute setting at UHS. ABOUT THE TEAM This is an exciting time to join UHS. We are working hard as a Trust to improve services for patients who require mental health care across the acute setting. We are one of England's largest acute teaching trusts and have recently been rated 'Good' by the Care Quality Care. We have a well-established mental health board with good levels of engagement from both an executive and clinical perspective, this enables us to provide strategic direction and focus on key service improvements. We also have an excellent liaison psychiatry service that is already well integrated into our core services. Our aim is to ensure that every patient who attends UHS will receive excellent person centred care that takes into account their mental health, physical health and social care needs. WHAT YOU'LL DO You will need highly developed interpersonal skills, hold the ability to work flexibly and maintain resilience. You will influence and lead key service improvements, working in collaboration with clinical teams to integrate the care of peoples mental and physical health, promoting a culture that embraces parity of esteem. You will provide clinical, professional and managerial leadership across the organisation, supporting our clinical teams to deliver high quality mental health care. You will be welcomed into a community of specialist practitioners from a variety of clinical fields and have opportunities for peer support, leadership development and professional supervision. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You will have a passion for improving care and experience relating to mental health and can act as a champion within an acute hospital setting. You will be an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to be the Trust's strategic lead for Mental Health working as an integral part of the Division B Management Team and as a leading member of the Trust's Mental Health Board. You will have the ability to network and build relationships at all levels, including interpersonal skills, liaison and negotiation skills.
