Identity, Access and Messaging Engineer (SME Messaging and Collaboration) Role Summary & the company Mail Newspapers Technology is the Information Technology provider for media companies within DMGT Group (Daily Mail & General Trust). We are seeking a suitable candidate to join our 3rd Line Messaging Team. It's expected the candidate will have a wide range of messaging skills and have worked within a large corporate IT environment with a large complex technology deployment. The Messaging Team are responsible for key underpinning technologies including Microsoft Exchange and ancillary systems like archiving, message hygiene and routing. It is also responsible for Office 365. You will become part of a team of permanent staff sometimes working alongside external resources for key projects and deliverables aligning to strategy. The role will report into the Head of Infrastructure. Role Description / Responsibilities The candidate will have predominant skill set in messaging technologies with a proven track record supporting production environments in a very fast paced company, spread across geographic locations, being based out of our head office in Kensington, London. A minimum of 6-8 years in a similar capacity is expected. The candidate will be an excellent communicator, methodical and well-motivated. They will possess the ability to ensure set objectives are delivered with tight timescales and with proven results in an ITIL driven environment where key production services need to remain stable and efficient at all times. We are looking for a well drilled individual, flexible in approach to diverse tasks and a very broad, yet in-depth, understanding of many messaging technologies. The candidate will; * Provide technology leadership and subject matter expertise, while at the same time being a team player. * Have the ability to manage upwards and field questions from senior and line management while managing expectations accordingly. * Be qualified to a level of MCP/MCSE + Messaging (or MCITP) in Server 2008/2012/2016 * Act as a technical escalation point for the technologies to resolve issues swiftly, and find root cause to better improve the service(s) * Have a proven track record in supporting large production environments spanning geographic locations across a number of messaging systems and internet connections. * Have supported and transformed a number of key solutions including MS Exchange 2010/2016, Office 365, TMG/UAG and Kemp. * Understands Microsoft Exchange end to end technically, but at the same time can balance its position with the business overall as not just an email solution, but a vast source of revenue and brand to our external customers * Understand and work towards a strategy set out by senior management ensuring we adhere to direction and execute tasks based on priority to meet strategy deadlines. * Have an understanding of all elements which make up a messaging solution from end to end with good experience of implementation, upgrade, decommissioning without introducing unnecessary business risk. * Will have very strong ITIL driven focus around our incident, request, change and problem processes both adhering to this process and ensuring the team are compliant also. * Have a good understanding of the need to be proactive by way of performance monitoring, tuning and pre-empting service improvements before they become an issue. * Be an escalation point for production threatening incidents, priority one or major issues and must have a proven track record in dealing with 3rd/4th line support along with working closely or dealing with partners and 3rd party vendors * Be a customer focused individual and fully understand that there needs to be a balance between the technical side, and customer communication be it fellow colleagues or people within the business. * Have the ability to coach other staff through various tasks and provide constant direction, namely 2nd line support teams and project technical leads. * Be flexible when it comes to out of hours support during evening and weekends which would require expertise beyond the duty service team where necessary Technical Skills Required * Architectural design and strategic planning * Expert in Messaging Strategy * Understanding of the principles and considerations of supporting messaging systems in other geographic locations and on transatlantic links. * Strong Powershell skills * An excellent grounding in the installation, configuration and maintenance of Microsoft Exchange 2010/2016 and Office 365 * Lotus Domino/Notes (Legacy estate) and importantly its interaction with MS Exchange environments and applications. * Solid grounding in SSL Certificates, domain names, MX records and the processes involved in purchasing, amending, d
