Job Description

Capital Analyst/ Actuary Purpose To provide support to the MS Amlin Actuarial team working in the Capital & Performance Modelling (CPM) team. The key area of work will be supporting the actuarial team in the maintenance, implementation and development of MS Amlin's Internal Model (IM), specifically with regards to MS Amlin's Lloyd's syndicate and the associated regulatory requirements. In addition the jobholder will from time to time be required to support other projects within MS Amlin Actuarial. Dimensions The jobholder will be a member of the capital modelling team, focusing on MS Amlin's Lloyd's syndicate. They will be involved in ensuring all regulatory requirements for the Internal Model are met, including the production of the LCR submission and validation of the Internal Model and associated documentation. In addition the jobholder will be responsible for the calibration and maintenance of aspects of the Internal Model, involving liaising with and building relationships with underwriters and other business experts, including the reserving and pricing actuarial teams. The jobholder will be recently qualified actuary, or partially qualified actuarial student with a minimum of 2-3 years' experience working in an actuarial role. Familiarity with capital modelling would be beneficial and experience in general insurance, and the Lloyd's market in particular, is preferable although not essential. Strong candidates who are looking to switch from other areas of actuarial work are also encouraged to apply. The jobholder will be joining an experienced and highly motivated actuarial team. Initially, the jobholder will support the more experienced members of the team. However, as the jobholder's experience grows it is expected that they will take on increasing levels of responsibility and transition from supporting to leading on specific tasks. The role will require the building of complex models to solve business problems. Therefore, it is important that the jobholder is willing to master a range of different IT software packages (e.g. SQL, VB.Net, C#), and ultimately be willing to design and build advanced programs and/or webpages. On the job training will be provided so prior knowledge of all these IT software packages is not essential. Familiarity with specialist capital modelling software (e.g. Igloo) would be preferable but is not essential. Key Result Areas . Internal Model Assist with the maintenance, building and reporting of the Internal Model. Specific areas of involvement will include: * Undertaking Internal Model runs as requested including preparation of model inputs and collation of model results. * Performing technical analysis towards parameterisation of the Internal Model. * Support the maintenance and development of the Internal Model code and/or any of the surrounding processes. * Assisting with the production of the regulatory capital submissions. * Support the production of quarterly risk reporting. Other Issues & Specific Projects Other projects as required: * Solvency II: Provide support into various Solvency II initiatives; The Operating Environment and Context of the Job The Capital & Performance Modelling team is structured with four sub-teams servicing the capital modelling requirements of each Amlin entity and the Group. Each sub-team has three to four members of staff, bringing the total head count for the CPM team to fifteen. The CPM team reports to the Chief Actuary, who in turn reports to the Chief Finance Officer.
