SharkNinja is looking for a highly-motivated Director, Product Design Engineering (Advanced Development) to lead a UK Ninja Kitchen team in London. Currently, the Ninja Advanced Development team is comprised of creative and passionate engineers based in three offices: our London office in the UK, our Boston area office in the US and Suzhou office in China. This combined global team has been chartered to develop new product concepts for the Ninja brand, which currently includes (but is not limited to) pressure cookers, air-fryers, ovens, cookware, coffee machines etc. As the Director of Advanced Development Engineering, you work very closely with other global AD/ R&D Leads to synchronize on goals, priorities, and responsibilities across the multiple sites. You will provide daily direction and inspiration to the Advanced Development team London through not just management, but hands-on design work as the leader of the London team. Duties and Responsibilities: Apply Design Thinking to solve real consumer problems, and translate these into Advanced Development projects Manage a team of creative, talented and passionate engineers who like the freedom to dream up and build things.Allocate resources to Advanced Development projects. Set up regular reviews and work with project leaders to ensure projects are on track.Coordinate closely with Advanced Development team members based in Boston/ China Set priorities and keep momentum going on a mix of projects, ranging from blue sky projects to projects with definite ship dates. Respond quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer range projects and goals.Design and build prototypes for internal review, testing, and consumer validation Challenge assumptions and think innovatively to solve complex problems creatively. Hold cross-functional brainstorming sessions and encourage out-of-the-box thinking. Work as individual contributor or as a team leader on multiple projects of varying size, scope, and complexity. Respond quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer range projects and goals Provide training and mentorship to less experienced engineers, share skills with other engineers. Participate in peer design reviews. Think critically about new product concepts, and ask the kinds of questions that help make them better. Collaborate with R&D team to bring new technologies into Ninja's next generation products, and to initiate the exploration of new technologies. Work closely with team members based in China to transfer design intent and get early manufacturing feedback on new product concepts Interpret data/test results and develop action plans. Champion product concepts that are ready to be Ninja's next products, which includes selling new product concepts to SharkNinja's executive team. Transition concepts from Advanced Development to the New Product Development and Implementation team. Expand, develop, and refine the Advanced Development team's strategies and processes Skills Required: BS in Engineering. Minimum 7+ years of experience in consumer products, automotive, or related industry Extensive experience leading user-centered and technology innovation projects. Intuition on what consumers want and what works in the marketplace. Willingness to fail quickly and fail often to succeed sooner when exploring early product concepts. Open to pursuing multiple paths to get to the best solution and not being too proud of your own ideas to listen to others Great selling and presentation skills. Ability to sketch and visually communicate ideas quickly and effectively. Ability to build prototypes of varying levels of fidelity and speed, from rough mock-ups, to breadboard prototypes, to fully functional prototypes with ID surfaces High level of proficiency working in SolidWorks and ProE/Creo 3D CAD systems Experience designing injection-molded plastic parts for high volume prod
