We have a new and exciting Opportunity for a Tracheostomy Practitioner at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). We are looking for an autonomous Clinical Practitioner within this specialist area who can provide specialist advice, guidance & support to patients, families, carers and clinical staff. This is a brand new position which will require a confident practitioner with extensive knowledge and experience in caring for adult patients with Tracheostomies. ABOUT THE TEAM The successful candidate will work be based within the Therapy department but will work across all divisions within UHSFT as well as the community. They will work closely with all members of the MDT including ENT, Respiratory medicine, critical care and community teams providing education and advice to ensure patients with tracheostomies have the specialist care they require. WHAT YOU'LL DO As this is a new post within the Trust you will be expected to develop the Tracheostomy service to provide specialist clinical leadership within this area of care, seeking opportunities to improve and enhance our services. You will support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR You will be a confident practitioner with extensive knowledge in tracheostomy care for adults within the acute and community settings. You will have experience in teaching / mentoring and assessing clinical and medical staff as providing formal teaching to a group of staff will be required. Developing competency training packages will also be a requirement for the role. You will require excellent communication skills as you will act as a vital link between all multi-disciplinary teams, departments and the wider health community.
