Job Description
Time-served (Apprenticeship) Maintenance Engineer / Electrician educated to HNC level required to maintain Decontamination Equipment (e.g. Sterilizers and Washer Disinfectors) and Building Services for NHSGGC Decontamination Units. You will carry out Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedule, breakdown/repair service as well as routine testing & commissioning of specialist Washer Disinfectors (WDs), Endoscope Washer Disinfectors (EWDs), and Sterilisers, and associated equipment, in order to maintain equipment validation and production process accreditation. You will maintain, fault find, repair, routine testing and validation of specialist Washer Disinfector's (WDs) and Sterilisers to SHTM 01-01 specification and Endoscope Washer Disinfector's (EWDs) to SHTM2030 specification , assisting the commissioning of all decontamination equipment prior to their entering service. Each piece of equipment needs to be tested to specified standards on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis. You will have a broad remit carrying out a variety of tests on approximately 10 major decontamination units comprising, Washer Disinfector's (WDs), Endoscope Washer Disinfector's (EWDs), Sterilisers and associated steam and water treatment equipment. Each test takes an average of 1 hour to 5 days depending upon test frequency, unit type and manufacture. It is essential that you have served a full recognised 4/5year electrical/mechanical apprenticeship acquiring the range of technical skills and experience required to carry out core engineering duties. You must hold a minimum HNC in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent. .The shift pattern for this post is Monday - Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm and on call 1 week in 8.
