Job Description

Role Finance Analyst - Corporate Profit Division/Dept Trading Finance Reporting to Senior Finance Manager - Central Trading Finance In a nutshell Support the Finance Manager - Corporate Profit in all aspects of Corporate Profit Analysis and Control, including: Improve the accuracy, efficiency and insight delivered through gross margin reporting Provide support to Business Unit Finance Managers on margin To ensure monthly management information is published accurately and in a timely manner Work closely with the Financial Control team in Group Finance to understand and manage the impacts of the miscellaneous adjustments process on Gross Profit Maintain a close working relationship with the Financial Control team in order to have full visibility of the Trading balance sheets and their impacts on Gross Profit Understand the key drivers of margin performance both historically and identify future trends Work cross functionally with the Sales Finance analyst to ensure adequate cover and shared knowledge across both Corporate Sales and Corporate Profit What I need to do Production of weekly and monthly reports on the financial performance of the business Identify opportunities to improve processes across the Central Trading Finance and the Business Unit Finance Teams Production of the Monday Morning Reports for the Operating Board Responsible for the Capex process, which includes producing and coordinating timely reporting and forecasts and providing challenge and insight into the data Responsible for Non Business Unit sales and profit, which includes producing and coordinating timely reporting and forecasts and providing challenge and insight into the data Assist business unit finance analysts to account for and understand gross profit miscellaneous adjustments Coordinate and own relationship with external profit recovery suppliers and deliver lost profit from errors in supplier income billing Commentary and analysis on gross profit performance Develop excellent understanding of Trading and how it links with other parts of the business Provide cover for the Finance Manager when appropriate How I will succeed Completion of work to a high standard and by the set deadlines - accuracy and timeliness are key Identify opportunities to improve current processes and ways of working Reduction in time spent on manual reporting/forecasting by automating/streamlining reports and/or processes Actively engaging and developing contacts throughout the business, both in and out of Finance Demonstrable enthusiasm in approach to role What I need to know Qualified/Part qualified accountant CIMA/ACCA/ACA Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills (pivot-tables, lookups & sumifs) Proven track record of working independently Self-motivated and ability to manage own time Ability to prioritise and respond accurately under pressure Excellent forward planning and organisation skills Strong oral and written communication skills, with an ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders including senior management What I need to show Very good networking and business partnering skills A great attitude and a desire to grow and develop as a finance professional Self-motivation and to be a team player Commercially aware with a clear focus on driving performance Resources available to me Appropriate support from Finance Managers and Senior Finance Manager Leveraging BU Finance teams to provide support as required #LI-SA1
