Job Description
Position Summary: The Chemical Development Chemist is responsible for providing chemical development support and troubleshooting to the manufacturing plants, kilo lab and packing areas. Aslo support QC and QA The main focus of this role is to evaluate the suitability of raw materials for Plant use (particularly through distillation processes) and to provide processing methods where material fails first pass through the plant. Additionally, you will be required to investigate non-conformance's and other issues, carrying out root cause analysis and put in place solutions. Working closely with New Product Leader, assess methods and provide quotes for new products to the Sales team. Main Responsibilities * Carry out lab based experiments to establish the suitability of raw materials for use in manufacture / packing * Provide technical support and lab trials to solve manufacturing issues, Investigate non-conformance's and complete root cause analysis, providing solutions * Work with New Product Leader to provide quotes for new products, set up new products on internal systems and personally supervise the first batch production * Support QC in interpretation of analysis, analytical techniques and analytical testing * Working with Plant, EHS and Engineering take part in risk assessments, HAZOPS & COSHH assessments * Carry out routine safety inspections and quality checks including calibrations, daily and weekly checks of work area * Responsible for maintaining your work areas in a safe and tidy condition; play an active role in 5S. * Work with due care and attention and in accordance with prescribed safety guidelines, adhering to the company policy, including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment Effectively perform your duties whilst acting at all times in accordance with the Dignity at Work Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and our values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement. * Embrace and participate in PPI (Practical Process Improvement) initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business * Comply with ISO 9001 Quality Standards and ISO 14001 Environmental Standards Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: * Bachelor of Science degree (1st or 2:1) as a minimum, preferably in a Chemistry discipline. * Minimum 1 year as a development chemist in Industry or have undertaken an Industrial Year. * Demonstrable experience of distillation skills * Knowledge of analytical techniques, particularly HPLC, LC-MS, UV * Excellent written and oral communication skills are required to interact with all levels of the organization. * MSc. or PhD preferred Employment Type: Full time
