Macmillan Cancer Support Worker Band 4 Permanent position 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday office hours) UCLH are current seeking a motivated individual to work alongside our Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists. This is would be to support patients with and Lower Gastroenterology cancer. The aim of this post is to support the Upper Gastrointestinal and Hepatopancreatobiliary Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role Your typical day will involve providing verbal and written information, signposting and supporting cancer patients and their families, both face to face and over the telephone. You will be expected to undertake some administrative duties and collating audit information, triage telephone calls and assist in coordination of the patient pathway. You will work under the direction of the CNSs, working across a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. You will have the opportunity to work with your CNS team to undertake holistic needs assessment pathways for patients and work closely with various other multidisciplinary staff including those in the UCLH Macmillan Support and Information Centre. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills who would enjoy the challenges of working with cancer patients. The successful applicant will be self-motivated, compassionate and willing to develop their skills and knowledge further. Previous experience in health and social care work is essential; I.T. skills and previous administrative experience is also required. The successful candidate will be provided with a bespoke training package, clinical supervision and peer support.
