Job Description

As an Analytics Engineer in our Business Intelligence Team, you will have an opportunity to impact all elements of the business Customer Experience, Digital Product, Physical Product, Marketing, Finance and Operations. It is our goal to ensure everyone in the business has access to accurate, up-to-date modelled data that can enable sophisticated decision making. You will work with our Business Intelligence Lead to ensure that stakeholders across the company have access to the best data and comprehensive visualised reports in a timely fashion. You will be working on a data pipeline that the utilises the industrys most state-of-the-art tools. There will be a significant amount of autonomy and you will take ownership of a significant part of Patchs analytics and reporting. ABOUT THE COMPANY For too long, its been prohibitively difficult for city dwellers to get into gardening. In an era of same-day delivery, the best plant retailers are offline and out of town. Even in the age of urbanisation, there is a complete lack of brands that are relevant to urban gardens. And, in a world where information is ubiquitous, few people have knowledge about plants or would know where to start. At Patch, we want to change that. We want to make it simple for people to buy the right plants for them and their space, be it indoors or out. We want to equip them with inspiration and know-how so they can confidently look after their plants and we want to provide superb service and convenience. Since launching in May 2016, we have made over 300,000 deliveries across the UK. Weve been at the forefront in the resurgent popularity for plants in the public eye and have worked with some of the most exciting brands on the planet. WHAT WILL THE JOB INVOLVE? * SQL modelling: Build SQL models to join Patchs numerous data sources together and define Patchs business logic on top of that data. * Looker modelling: Use Lookers internal language, LookML, to create metrics and ensure Patch has a best in class Looker setup. * Dashboarding: Creating visualisations and dashboards for stakeholders across the business. * Analysis: Carry out analysis on Patchs data to spot opportunities for growth and identify issues before they become an issue. * Data advocacy: Be an advocate for data within Patch, whether that be training up staff on our BI tools or being a tribune for data literacy. * Stakeholder management: Work with senior stakeholders across the business to translate their needs into actionable insights and reports. * Documentation: Help improve Patch's data documentation and how to guides. Requirements Essential * Comfortable working from home and learning that way. It's unlikely you'll spend any significant time in the office this year. * At least one years experience in an analytics-based role. * A passion for data and using data to solve a businesss problems. * Advanced Excel user: able to understand and build complex spreadsheets. * You have strong SQL skills. You know the difference between a query that works and a query that performs. * You have experience of working with one of the following databases - Redshift, Snowflake, Big Query, Postgres or similar. * A quick learner who can dive into new tools and be comfortable working with them in next to no time. * Demonstrable ability to solve problems and translate stakeholders needs into business insights. * You are happy combine ad-hoc small tasks with big overarching quarterly tasks. Nice to have * You have previously worked in the ecommerce space. * You have built out dashboards in Looker before and are comfortable working with LookML. * You have worked with DBT before. * Youre comfortable working in the command line and comfortable with a basic GIT workflow. * Have experience writing analytical Python.
