Main Purpose Working as part of the Operations and Quality teams, you will be responsible for helping to maintain the Business' quality strategy, its procedures and accreditations, ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction in a customer focused environment. You will help create and implement a quality related business plan to support complete product quality from supplier development to customer delivery. You will work closely with the Procurement and Engineering Teams to develop new and existing suppliers. High quality material and rigorous process control are key to delivering our Customer's expectations so it is essential that we manage this approach down into our supply chain so quality becomes built in rather than defects inspected out. Role and Responsibilities * Support supplier quality approval, development and improvement * Verification, validation, testing & compliance of new and changed products to applicable standards * Conduct internal audits and external (consisting of Quality Management Systems Procedures, Work Instructions, products and processes / systems and key suppliers) * Assist in maintaining the Quality Management System ensuring on-going compliance to ISO9001 & customer specific approvals, together with preparation and implementation of new standards. * Support with the investigation and resolution of customer complaints and non-conformances, including Technical Investigation reports. * Support Accreditation Audits (BSI) where required. * Compile data analysis and support root cause and corrective action activities in response to internal and external concerns * Working closely with Engineering and Manufacturing ensure that appropriate technical documentation is controlled * Work closely with Engineering and Procurement to validate new suppliers and processes to the business. * Develop a set of Unipart Way continuous improvement competencies through training and development activities. Essential Criteria * Ideally qualified to HNC/ HND (or equivalent) in mechanical / electrical engineering * Experience working in a Quality Assurance /Quality Control role within a manufacturing environment * Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail * Excellent problem solving and analytical skills; root cause analysis, 5Y's, * Experience working with 6 sigma methodology, statistical process control (SPC) would be highly desirable * Good working knowledge of maintaining ISO9001:2015 standard and Quality Management Systems, quality assurance techniques and terminology * Experience carrying out Internal Quality Audits * Knowledge and experience working with tools / techniques to support continuous improvement * Able to interpret technical drawings, data sheets and specifications * Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and negotiate with both internal and external stakeholders * Pro-active, positive attitude with a flexible approach to working * IT literate and familiar with MS Office applications * Customer focused, ideally with experience undertaking supplier audits Benefits * Competitive salary * Pension * 25 Days Hols (plus Bank Holidays) * Employee Assistance Programme * Cycle to work scheme * Flex benefits As a valued employee of Unipart Rail, you can look forward to a varied and rewarding career with a company that holds the Investors in People accreditation and also world class status in employee engagement.
