Overview
Job Description
The successful candidate will provide a high quality imaging service to the Ophthalmology department, as well as ophthalmic imaging and investigations. These include diagnostic imaging, clinical investigation, tests of psychophysical function and physiological measurement, to patients of all ages suffering from diseases of the eye and visual system. What we look for: * The ability to provide ophthalmic imaging and investigations including: diagnostic imaging, clinical investigation, tests of psychophysical function and physiological measurement, to patients of all ages suffering from diseases of the eye and visual system. * Ability to perform ophthalmic imaging to a high standard and maintain and develop professional skills in line with advances in ophthalmic imaging * Ability to train and develop ancillary staff to perform basic ophthalmic imaging * Coordination of maintenance of imaging equipment and associated software to ensure smooth running of the ophthalmic imaging service What we Offer: * Working within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver Ophthalmic care * Support from our Ophthalmology Consultants and wider Ophthalmic team * Opportunities to work with the team to continue to develop and evolve the service and the way in which we offer care, for example further development of virtual clinics Who we are: We have a well-established Ophthalmology service that operates across all of our three hospital sites. At the Basingstoke site, our service configuration includes a dedicated Eye Day Case Unit (EDCU), as well as community eye services that support glaucoma referral refinement and Minor Eye Conditions (MECs) being dealt with closer to home. The department at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospitals saw over 25,000 outpatient attendances in 2018/19 and nearly 5,000 inpatient and day case operations. Each of our existing consultants has a strong general Ophthalmology background with sub-specialty interests in medical retina, glaucoma, uveitis, anterior segment, oculoplastics, and paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
