Royal College approved, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, S pecialising in Glaucoma North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is no ordinary NHS Trust. It has a reputation for dynamism, integration of clinicians in management, and high quality patient care. Following the merger of Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals with Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon, there is an opportunity to recruit a full time Consultant, who specialises in Glaucoma , to join a multidisciplinary team providing optimal care. The Trust provides comprehensive Ophthalmology care for the Huntingdon, Stamford, Peterborough, Ely and Fenland areas and also receive some referrals from the wider region. This post will have sessions at any of the 3 hospitals under North West Anglia Foundation Trust with also an on call commitment in the job plan. The Department of Ophthalmology is unusual for a District General Hospital, being arranged by subspecialty for many years, offering the opportunities of a university hospital while also retaining the freedom of movement to innovate. Examples include shared care community schemes, integration with optometrists, expanded roles for nurses & other non medical health care professionals, and a high level of clinical research that has shaped improvements in eye care nationally over many years. The department firmly believes in investing in a strong IT infrastructure to develop innovative ways to meet capacity demands including virtual clinics.
