Moorfields NHS Foundation Trust - Bank Ophthalmic Technician We are seeking motivated and trained Ophthalmic Technician to be part of the specialised teams at Moorfields Eye Hospital Looking for flexible shifts to suit your availability or lines of work? Why not join the Moorfields bank? You will get first choice of shifts suited to your availability and skills Shifts will be available between 8am and 17.30pm. PURPOSE OF THE JOB To perform visual field assessments on a wide variety of patients To capture images of the retina using specialised equipment To measure visual acuity and accurately test intra ocular pressure To be responsible for your own case load, prioritising and accepting urgent referrals when necessary To ensure patients are received in a sympathetic and courteous manner and that cultural difference is catered for To present findings to the medics and other health care professionals MAIN DUTIES To perform visual field tests using own initiative but with supervision if needed To perform retinal tomography measurements using corrective lenses as required To measure visual acuities To measure intra ocular pressures To measure patients' spectacle corrections and interpret this information to select the correct lens for visual field testing To ensure patients attending the Glaucoma Monitoring Unit understand the new pathway To decide on the most appropriate test to perform by applying the protocols and procedures agreed by the Orthoptist and to seek advice when necessary To produce high quality readings by using high levels of concentration Help in the daily maintenance of the equipment and trial lenses Required Skills: -VA ( Visual acute) - OCT - 6 months NHS experience in a similar role Employment Type: TEMPORARY
