Job Description

Overview We are looking for a Yard Manager based at Whitemoor for an immediate start You will be responsible for delivering safe and reliable services within our Whitemoor yard, with responsibility for managing a team of Rail Operators and Yard Shift Leaders. You'll ensure the team work safely and confidently and are equipped with the correct resources to deliver our operational requirements to time. You will also be responsible for maintaining strong contact with our external customers in the Whitemoor area to ensure they are well informed on their services. Responsibilities Tasks and Responsibilities * You will be responsible for producing and updating methods of work and risk assessments and undertake audits and location checks in accordance with our schedules. * Ensuring the yard and working environment is maintained in a safe and orderly state and resinforce safetly procedures to staff. * You must ensure any safety issues are dealt with swiftly and efficiently in accordance with railway regulations. * Schedule the delivery of the jobs to customers in accordance with the Long Term Planning and Short Term planning teams to produce an optimal roster for traincrew taking cognisance of budgets and performance, including late notice cancellations or absence. * Ensure shifts are fully manned and communicated to staff in a timely fashion, ensuring contingency plans are put in place in case of last minute changes to the roster. * Review and maintain systems to monitor any wagon damaged caused by loading /unloading * Undertake all aspects of people management including; interviews, appointments, skillset and training development, character development, arrange social events, make first day contact, return to work interviews, MFA management, incident investigations, and exit interviews * Ensure all equipment within the location(s) is maintained to minimum standards to enable reliable and continuous operation * You will be required to work a nominal 37 hour week and provide oncall duties Qualifications You should have Groudstaff Competence/experience and Personal Track Safety to apply for this role. You should be a confident and natural leader with proven experience managing teams successfully. A full drivers licence is essential and you must live in close proximitey to the Whitemoor Yard.
