Department Overview The Secretary's Department supports the Court of Directors and other key Governing Committees of the Bank. The Secretary is the Bank's Conflicts Officer, and Secretary's Department is responsible for the application of the Conflicts of Interest Codes applying to the Bank's policy committees, and has responsibility for the individual conflict of interest policies that are reflected in 'Our Code', and for the provision of advice. The Secretary's Department is also responsible for the Bank's records and archives; the Bank's records management; and the Information Centre. Team overview The Bank of England's Information Centre facilitates the work of the Bank across all its directorates by delivering a professional business library service. We support research in line with the Bank's strategic goals by providing access to relevant published sources in both online and hard copy formats. We offer training and support to departments Bankwide. We build relationships with business areas to understand and anticipate the Bank's evolving information requirements. We are looking for a systems librarian to join our small and friendly team. This role offers the opportunity to utilise and expand systems expertise whilst contributing to all aspects of a busy library service. Job description The job holder leads on the running of the Library Management System (currently Soutron) and other information systems such as EBSCO Discovery and the ebook platform, Ebook Central. They also maintain and develop the Information Centre's Intranet and Collaborate pages. They carry out enquiry and search requests, taking part in regular enquiry desk duties. Detailed role description Library management system Lead on running the Library Management System (LMS), including moving published enquiries from the CRM database to the Soutron LMS. Develop the LMS to improve library processes and services to users. Act as the main contact with the LMS supplier over system issues, in particular when there are any upgrades, down time or major changes. Resource discovery service Lead on developing the Resource Discovery Service (currently EBSCO) including possible future integration with the LMS. In consultation with the Information Centre team, review the current set-up and implement agreed changes. Ensure the Information Centre team fully understand how Discovery works and what is included in it so that it can be effectively promoted. Intranet/Shared workspace
