Overview of the Department: The Legal department's principal functions are to: Provide legal services and legal advice to each international securities business Draft, review and negotiate contractual documentation, whether transactional or non-transactional Draft structured notes and other product documentation and arrange for issuance of such notes and products Provide structuring, legal and execution advice in relation to transactions and new business Provide transaction management support for securities issues and financing transactions arranged or underwritten by an International securities business Evaluate legal risk business is conducted in a lawful and professional manner Identify and advise on the implementation of new laws and regulations Provide legal oversight of regulatory matters and government affairs Manage all disputes, litigation, regulatory proceedings and other contentious matters Manage and approve all use of law firms Main purpose of the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a junior to midlevel qualified individual with experience in admin support and a skillset in drafting and negotiation of legal documentation to join our team on a fixed term basis as a maternity cover. Key responsibilities: * Ensure that all legal and documentation requirements for Sales & Trading transactions are dealt with and met in an efficient and timely manner * Conduct legal diligence on new counterparties and jurisdictions for Sales & Trading transactions * Maintain databases and records of all documentation connected to Sales & Trading transactions * Assist with the maintenance and development of document templates and standards, know-how and procedures in connection with Sales & Trading transactions * Assist with Bank and Securities projects Work experience: Essential: * Demonstrable experience in maintaining databases and record keeping * Experience in drafting legal documentation * Experience in admin work * Experience in client interaction * Experience in project work * Experience working in a legal environment, ideally in an in-house role Beneficial: * Experience in counterparty and other markets contracts e.g. electronic trading agreements, terms of business, brokerage agreements, Give-up agreements * Experience in OTC derivatives trading documentation: ISDAs, CSAs, IM, VM, GMSLA, GMRAs, FBFs, DRVs * Language skills: German, French Skills and experience: Education/Qualifications: Essential: * junior to midlevel qualified (or non qualified) solicitor or equivalent legal qualification Personal requirements: * Excellent communication skills * Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability * A proactive, motivated approach. * The ability to operate with urgency and prioritise work accordingly * Strong decision making skills, the ability to demonstrate sound judgement * A structured and logical approach to work * Strong problem solving skills * A creative and innovative approach to work * Excellent interpersonal skills * The ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy * A calm approach, with the ability to perform well in a pressurised environment * Strong numerical skills * Excellent Microsoft Office skills Performance and Duties: The role holder will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity's performance framework and process with relevant input obtained from the dual hatting entity as relevant.
