Job Description

This role is open to newly qualified nurses supported by a great preceptorship programme. We pride ourselves on having an environment where your development matters * We are a Trauma and orthopaedic ward that predominantly cares for patients with complex fractures requiring surgical intervention, with a focus on acutely medically unwell patients and end of life patients. You will be working within an extended MDT comprised of Surgeons, Therapists, Nurses, Health Care Support Workers and Admin staff in a fast paced, dynamic environment. You will be expected to deliver evidence based high quality care to all patients. * We are currently preparing for an exciting transition where we will become an elective orthopaedic ward and a general surgical ward. Flexible working patterns will considered for all nursing applicants! What we look for: * We are looking for enthusiastic and dynamic nurses who are keen to expand their knowledge and skills within an acute surgical setting. What we Offer: * We provide an extended induction period during which you receive support from a senior nurse, training from the therapy department and exposure to the patient journey within the trust. * We will provide the opportunities for you to develop skills essential for career progression. These skills include training in the following areas: PCA, TPN, syringe drivers and End of Life Pathways, skin traction, external fixation for complex fractures, care for patients with spinal fractures and post-acute spinal cord injury management. We offer a 12 month preceptorship programme for all our newly qualified health care professionals to support your transition into the working world. This provides a structured progression from student to employee allowing you to develop your skills as required by the Trust and governing bodies and gives you the opportunity to attend study days, training sessions and to complete an in house Service Improvement project. * Do you need to relocate to take up this role? For candidates who need to move to the local area to take up this opportunity to work with us, the trust may provide single occupancy accommodation in Winchester for your first 3 months of joining. This is to allow you to settle into your new role as well as the local area whilst making longer term accommodation arrangements.
