An exciting opportunity has arisen at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) for a motivated and dynamic Sister / Charge Nurse to work within our dedicated 22 bedded Spinal unit, encompassing both emergency trauma and elective surgery. We are a newly established service that is continuously growing and developing. ABOUT THE TEAM The Nursing Team consists of Registered Nurses, Senior Nursing Assistants, and Nursing Assistants. In addition to Registered Nurses, some of the senior nursing assistants are also highly trained and competent within defined parameters, to care for spinal cord injured ventilator dependent patients. Fundamental to providing a specialist service we are committed to providing a high standard of quality care through an ongoing education, development and staff training programme. WHAT YOU'LL DO To be responsible for assisting the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse in the management of the ward/unit over a 24-hour period, ensuring high standards of care are maintained and available resources are utilised effectively. You will be assisting in the day to day management and organisation of the spinal unit as required, demonstrating clinical expertise and acting as a role model within the Neurosciences setting. The sister / charge nurse role requires a close working relationship with the multi-professional team to ensure that evidenced based quality care is delivered with compassion to every patient. You will be required to have high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
