Main purpose of the role: As an Employee Relations Specialist you will work with HR Business Partners, Legal, other control functions, managers and employees to drive the resolution of advanced and complex ER cases including disciplinary matters and grievances (running investigations through to closure), employee consultation processes, TUPE, mediation discussions, redundancy processes, relocation strategies, and restructuring exercises and supporting strategic organisational change initiatives. The role will also provide advice, guidance and support to managers and employees on issues such as flexible working, sickness absence and performance management. The role includes: * Management of complex Employee Relations cases including providing recommendations to senior leaders on risk assessment, strategy and approach * Ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to Employee Relations matters * Subject matter expertise in the knowledge and application of employment law, HR policy and process * Demonstration of handling disciplinary, grievance and redundancy processes from start to finish including knowledge and experience of documentation/interview procedures for Employee Relations investigations. Documentation of investigatory findings and conclusions and responding to allegations * Involvement in strategic Employee Relations projects, acting as the point of contact within the Advisory team for policy development and regulatory related projects related to conduct risk * Develop HR capability to understand and apply employment law, policies and practices. Ensure consistency and manage risks through ongoing support and training * Evaluating and assessing employee relation trends arising within business areas using data and analytics to identify emerging themes * Provision of training and education sessions to employees and managers on both a formal and informal basis as required and maintaining professional understanding of the changing legislative environment * Ability to build and maintain relationships throughout the organisation and partner with the business/wider HR function in order to resolve complex ER cases * Knowledge of employee consultation processes and requirements for consultation * Experience in managing employee litigation including tribunal claims * Knowledge and experience within a regulated and organisationally complex environment * Oversight of ER spend including monitoring and tracking of spend to ensure efficient spend, seeking opportunities to reduce cost and manage risk for the firm wherever possible * Relationship management with relevant external vendors including external Legal * Employment law background preferred Competencies: * Sound judgement and decision-making in the handling of sensitive employee matters * Ability to assess risks with Employee Relations issues and take appropriate steps to achieve resolution of Employee Relations cases within the legal framework * Client focused providing excellent customer service * Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of attention to detail * Solid organisation skills with the ability to manage conflicting and demanding clients and priorities * Ability to manage, organise and prioritise numerous objectives, projects or activities simultaneously in a high pressure environment * Flexible in adapting to a dynamic, fast paced environment with a positive attitude and results driven * Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organisational skills are required in order to interact with all levels of management and employees * Good counselling and advisory skills balanced with influencing techniques MUFG is committed to embracing diversity and building an inclusive culture where all employees are valued, respected and their opinions count.
