Job Description

NHS FIFE JUNIOR CLINICAL FELLOW IN GENERAL SURGERY VICTORIA HOSPITAL, KIRKCALDY 40 HOURS We are seeking a Junior Clinical Fellow to work within the Fife Surgical Service. The successful candidates will join our team of 12 Consultant colleagues, 8 Specialist registrars, 2 Hospital specialists, 2 Core surgical trainees, 4 FY2's and 17 FY1's who provide elective and emergency services. You will undertake commitments mainly in Victoria Hospital but occasionally in the adjacent Queen Margaret Hospital which is our Diagnostic and Treatment centre. The successful applicant will have a wide experience and exposure to all the sub-specialties undertaken within the surgical department. You will participate in the emergency rota within the tier made up of the FY2's and Core trainees. The oncall work is supported by FY1 and ST's along with Consultant support 24/7 The post holder will have exposure to managing patients on the Surgical High Dependency Unit in addition to emergency and elective duties. The unit has a well run teaching programme every week. Appropriately experienced applicants must have full registration with the General Medical Council, hold a current licence to practise and have completed at least the FY2 year or CT2 year. The post holder will be encouraged to get involved with various audit and clinical projects and service improvement programmes apart from making clinical progress.
