Directorate Overview Prudential Policy Directorate (PPD) are responsible for designing, negotiating internationally and implementing effective prudential regulation in order to remove or reduce systemic risks, promote the safety and soundness of PRA-regulated firms and ensure appropriate protection for insurance policyholders. PPD supports both the Prudential Regulation Committee (PRC) and Financial Policy Committee (FPC) in fulfilling their objectives. Team Overview The Macroprudential Toolkit Development team is part of the Policy Strategy and Implementation Division in PPD. We lead on the design, implementation and evaluation of macroprudential policies to mitigate systemic risk. Collaborating with colleagues across the Bank, externally and internationally, the team contributes to the delivery of the FPC and PRA's respective objectives of financial stability and safety and soundness by turning macroprudential policy into microprudential actions. The team's key responsibilities are: * the development and implementation of the FPC's macroprudential tools on e.g. housing and capital buffers; * the design and implementation of frameworks for systemic banks; and * the negotiation of international standards for macroprudential policy. Job description We are looking for an enthusiastic Band I Research Assistant to join the Policy Strategy and Implementation Division. The Research Assistant will sit in the Macroprudential Toolkit team and provide research assistance to colleagues across the Policy Strategy and Implementation Division. This is an exciting role that will provide you with the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of areas that lie at the heart of the Bank's responsibilities. You should have a strong interest in the priorities of the FPC and PRC, as well as the wider macroprudential policy agenda. You would be expected to work well in a team and be comfortable interacting with a wide range of stakeholders across the Bank. As the job holder, you can expect to: * Support staff on the collection, cleaning, manipulating, visualising and analysing of datasets for policy analysis and research; * Become the go-to person in the division for processing several Bank datasets; * Provide assistance related to research projects; * Support staff with gathering information for our regular PPD and Bank-wide outputs; * Work along the Industrial Placements students within the division; * Perform ad hoc assignments. Role Requirement Essential * Strong analytical skills, including extracting clear insights from data and attention to detail; * Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a variety of policy and research staff; * Strong organisational skills to prioritise and execute multiple tasks efficiently and accurately as well as the ability to meet challenging deadlines; * Drive and enthusiasm. You will need to be a self-starter, who can develop ideas and ensure work progresses; and * A collaborative approach: Commitment to collaboration and teamwork, including the ability to maintain a network of different stakeholders.
