The way we care for people with Learning Difficulties in Suffolk is changing at NSFT as we have recently benefit form 1 million of investment. The service is not only being invested in financially, with a fresh approach to ideas and service delivery being supported by the Trust, we are confident our new model of care is the very best for the people we care for This role in particular is to lead and manage our 6 bed acute service at Walker Close in Ipswich. Split over two purpose-built bungalows and about to benefit from a 1 million makeover, the Walker Close team are very patient-focused and highly skilled at managing and supporting a small number of people with complex needs and who are presenting with deteriorating mental health. The multidisciplinary team at Walker Close work proactivly with each individual to support them along their recovery journey. Walker Close forms the top of a pyramid of care for those with learning difficulties in Suffolk. Starting with the community team and progressing to the intensive support team, the whole team works together provide intensive support and admission avoidance hand in hand with support of families and 3rd party providers. The staffing teams will work across walker close and the intensive care team will cross cover allowing a known person to follow the service users journey through the two services offering a level of consistency and familiarity which supports recovery. Who are we looking for? We are looking for a dynamic ward manager who will be excited to be part of something new and very special. We want creativity, innovative ideas and passion towards providing excellent patient care. We are looking for a nurse experienced in working with learning disabilities with a level head who is aware of the pressures of an inpatient environment. We are looking for a strong and proven leader who can take responsibility for decisions and support junior members of the team. Communication is key, we provide ourselves on our services being co-produced. We are therefore looking for someone who can communicate in a professional manner with a wide spectrum of people to achieve the best outcome for our patients. However most importantly and in keeping with our trust values of vales of Positively, Respectfully and Together, we are looking for someone who has exceptional people skills as this role requires you to make difficult decision whilst having to maintain professional relationships. This specific post is for the ward manager who will be working closely with the team leader in the Intensive Support Team to create a strong management team alongside the Deputy Service Manager and other MDT members. You can be a part of the changes we are making and the new direction the team are heading. We have a culture of continued learning, each team having monthly protected days which includes a variety of training, supervision and service development. The entire team is trained in positive behavior support delivered by BILD and we will be following that up with Quality Improvement training to support the team with the redesign.
