Job Description
Community Stroke and Neuro Occupational Therapist NELFT are currently recruiting for an innovative and enthusiastic Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join their Community Rehabilitation Service which is based across the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham. The Community Rehabilitation Service is a multi-disciplinary therapy team providing assessment and rehabilitation in a community setting for those with a range of progressive or acquired neurological conditions. Your caseload will be split between stroke and other neurological conditions. You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment planning of those referred to the service and have the opportunity to develop your existing clinical skills. We are aware that as this is a band 5 post you may have limited experience in the field of neurology. The team and Trust are fully committed to support your development, providing you with appropriate training, supervision and appraisals. The service works closely with our colleagues across the Stroke and Neurology pathway including our Stroke Unit at Meadow Court, Goodmayes Hospital and our team of specialist nurses in PD, MND and MS to aid us in the holistic management of our patients. We are looking for a candidate who is a team player, enthusiastic, flexible and who possess excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills. Essential criteria for the post include: Occupational Therapy Degree/Diploma or equivalent Broad range of undergraduate placements within the NHS Good Clinical Knowledge To be able to travel efficiently throughout the boroughs of Havering and Barking and Dagenham This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of 3,784 to a maximum of 4,822).
