We are a small, friendly and creative team building robots for restaurant and food industries and were having a lot of fun along the way. Our teams work across robotics, mechatronics, software and down into embedded systems. What will you do? As a Mechanical Design Engineer, youll be developing robotic food handling systems and supporting infrastructure, from Front End Innovation through to manufacture and implementation. This will include mechanisms for dispensing various food types, designs for pick and place and systems for human and robotic interaction Youll be accountable for: * Conceptual development interfacing robotics, food dispense technology and feedback systems * Validate suitability of proposals through simulated and physical trialling * Design oversight of hygiene, usability and operational safety * Perform Design For Manufacture and Design Transfer to Manufacture of modules, through to commissioning, install and lifecycle analysis * Interact cross functionally with teams working on Karakuris software stack, sensing, embedded electronics and robotics Requirements What we need you to have: * Inquisitive nature, be a fast learning self-starter with great attention to detail * 3+ years of relevant industry experience developing production ready systems * A Bachelors Degree in a technical area (or equivalent work experience) * Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, SolidWorks preferable. Demonstrable good abilities in modelling, assembly development, simulation and engineering drawing * Adept in creation and management of Bill of Materials and Design History File, ensuring an efficient supply chain and revision history * Exposure to manufacturing processes including: CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication and rapid prototyping It would be a bonus if you have: * Ability to work cross discipline, understanding requirements from both hardware and software teams * Experience in sourcing components and creating manufacturing equipment * Experience designing for electrical component integration, able to model and size motors, drives, sensors etc * Experience in hygiene critical industries * Practical experience securing CE and other safety certification Benefits As well as being a fun place to work, we also offer a competitive salary and the following perks: * Bonus scheme * Good contributory pension * Vitality Health Insurance - giving you discounted gym membership plus many more rewards * Monthly social events! * And of course, youll get to play with our robots...
