For more on Wheelabrator, please visit www.wtienergy.co.uk Summary The jobholder will be working as part of a maintenance team to carry out both ad-hoc and planned preventative and reactive maintenance on all mechanical aspects of the plant in a safe, compliant and commercially effective way to ensure operational continuity, reliability and performance of the plant. This role is worked on a rotating shift pattern and overtime or emergency call-out may be a requirement in order to meet operational demands. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Co-ordinating and planning daily maintenance activities. * Assisting in outage planning, scheduling & co-ordination. * Involvement in any investigations into safety and technical aspects of the mechanical equipment within the plant. * Implementing improvements to ensure the ongoing integrity and performance of the plant. * Ensuring compliance with health, safety & environmental management policies. * Carrying out and/or supervising contractors carrying out maintenance tasks. * Preparation of work control packs using a maintenance management system, issuing said work packs and reporting on close out of the work. * Involvement in the continuous review of mechanical spares to ensure the high availability and reliability of the plant. * Assisting in the development of a major plant failure strategy. * Performs preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on equipment, co-ordinating work with various team members. * Designs and installs new equipment and/or system modifications and understands the requirements of a change management process. * Use of a maintenance reporting system to record time and material use, problems identified and corrected, and further action required. Provides a complete history of maintenance on equipment. * Schedules, co-ordinates, works with and monitors contractors on specific tasks as required. * Follows safe working practices at all times, identifying any safety hazards and recommending solutions. * Assists other team members and work with all departments to support the plant in achieving its performance goals. * Trains other team members in the areas of mechanical and operational systems. * Conducts equipment and system tagging according to Company and plant rules and regulations. * Performs equipment safety inspections as required and records results as appropriate. * Reads and interprets drawings, sketches, prints and specifications as required. * Orders parts as needed to effect maintenance and repair. * Performs any ad-hoc operational or housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Mechanical Engineer. * Responds within a reasonable time to any emergency call-ins and provides acceptable off-duty cover as directed by the Mechanical Engineer. * Advises shift operational staff as necessary and within their capabilities to effect repairs out of normal hours working Supervisory Responsibilities There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this role with the exception of contractors when they are required for specialist tasks or outage work. Qualifications & Experience The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. * HNC/HND qualified in Mechanical engineering or other relevant discipline. * Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical maintenance and operational systems gained within power generation, renewable energies or other similar related industry. * Ideally, a background as a Maintenance Technician or Service Engineer undertaking mechanical repairs on plant equipment.
