**For Current Gilead Employees and Contractors:** Please log onto your Internal Career Site at to apply for this job. **Job Description** **Associate Director, Government Affairs** **Holborn** The role will report to the Senior Director for Government Affairs UK & Ireland and will support the HIV Business Unit area with the aim of fostering a favourable commercial environment for HIV in the UK, and to enable patients to benefit from Gilead's medicines. This role will develop evidence that matters for government's decision-making, establish long term relationships with policy makers and other stakeholders and position Gilead as a partner of choice. It will act as a critical link, connecting the government with Gilead science and connecting Gilead with policymakers' needs and expectations. If you are looking for a role where you will have the opportunity to make a true difference in patients' lives and where you are part of a highly motivated team with the opportunity to grow, please get in touch! **Specific Responsibilities** + Contribute to development and implementation of a Government Affairs strategy to: + Position Gilead as a partner and thought leader with governments, + Proactively inform the thinking of decision makers, + Enhance and support timely access to Gilead innovative medicines. + Establish strong and valuable connections with a broad range of public policy stakeholders including government officials, MPs and Ministers to support Gilead's therapy areas, specifically HIV. + As part of the Government Affairs team, represent Gilead Sciences externally with key stakeholders with the purpose of shaping the policy environment to drive better access and uptake of innovative medicines. + Monitor the political and policy environment and ensure that Gilead senior management is fully informed of key developments with a significant business impact + Identify and deliver initiatives to differentiate Gilead Sciences externally. + Work as part of the Government Affairs team to ensure appropriate alignment of activities to the regional and global strategy; collaborate and share best practice. + Project manage Gilead's cross-functional Brexit planning, both in preparation for the end of the transition period and in ensuring our input into industry-Government discussions on the future policy environment for the Life Sciences sector. + Work with other Gilead functions (e.g. Market Access, Public Affairs, Commercial, and Medical) to ensure alignment of objectives and activities around our business priorities. + Assist in building company-wide support for Government Affairs objectives and educate internal clients on the value of effective government affairs activities + Support the recruitment and supervision of external Government Affairs agencies who will support the delivery of our activities. Manage these relationships to ensure effective delivery of projects to time and budget. + Support colleagues based in Ireland, Scotland and Wales to develop and implement local strategies in support of Gilead's HIV business. **Knowledge, Experience and Skills** + Significant experience of working in a GA role or working in government/public health institutions. + Excellent strategic thinker with ability to formulate, develop and execute on agreed strategies. + Strong track record of implementing projects with defined outcomes, to time and to budget - either in government, or in a government affairs, market access, public affairs or policy role. + In-depth knowledge of healthcare systems, pricing and reimbursement and key policies relevant to secure access and uptake of highly innovative medicines is preferred + Ability to earn the confidence of senior leaders and to help them understand and demonstrate the value to be gained through strengthened relationships with governments and leading policymakers + Sound business judgment and analytical skills, and strong team player. + Skilled at managing projects and working in a matrix environment. + Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills + Ability to ensure that all government affairs activities are fully compliant with all laws, regulations and the ABPI Code of Practice. **Gilead Core Values** + INTEGRITY - Doing What's Right + INCLUSION - Encouraging Diversity + TEAMWORK - Working Together + EXCELLENCE - Being Your Best + ACCOUNTABILITY - Taking Personal Responsibility **Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)** It is the policy of Gilead Sciences, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Gilead" or the "Company") to recruit select and employ the most qualified persons available for positions throughout the Company.
