Job Description

Transport Planner Kirby Muxloe Leicester Competitive Purpose of the role: To supply and co-ordinate a transport service to our internal customers these being over 400 stores nationwide. Liaise with the hauliers and Distribution Centre Management to plan the transport and pick, adhering to strict KPI's and budgets Role Responsibilities * To plan routes ensuring that vehicle and driver resources are utilized with optimum efficiency. * Ensure sub contracted work is maintained at minimum levels ensuring optimal use of in house resources. * To answer incoming calls from customers and deal with the same accordingly, updating the planning systems as events unfold. * Issuing instructions to the dispatch department and drivers ensuring that all work is executed as planned - ensuring that planning systems are updated and all necessary system changes are actioned in real time. * To ensure all collection and delivery times planned throughout the day are managed accordingly. * To control vehicles in conjunction with the dispatch department ensuring any major changes are re-planned as required to meet customer demands. Skills and Qualifications * Demonstrable numeric and literacy skills. * Proven leadership skills * Demonstrable ability to communicate effectively at all levels. * Ability to work to deadlines. * Microsoft Excel skills are vital * Previous experience within a Transport or Distribution environment. * A good geographical knowledge of the UK desirable.
