Are you passionate about the construction industry, specifically in the Carpentry/Joinery trade and have the desire and energy to develop the future workforce of Carpenters? Do you want to swap site work for an instructor/technician role or are you already an experienced professional who is looking for a new challenge? To meet the ambition of delivering an outstanding educational experience in our Carpentry provision, we are seeking a person who has the passion and energy about the Carpentry trade to develop the next generation of enthusiastic qualified Carpenters and Joiners. We welcome experienced industry applications who are willing to undertake an appropriate instructor qualification, newly qualified teachers wishing to gain experience in an educational establishment, as well as from experienced and qualified instructor/technicians already delivering an outstanding experience in an educational setting. As an Instructor, you will spend a maximum of 20 hours per week instructing learners within the workshop on improving their skills and preparing them for their practical assessments within the carpentry environment to City & Guilds standards. You will be helping learners to understand both the practical and theoretical elements of their course, therefore applicants will need to demonstrate good working knowledge of the Carpentry industry to deliver inspirational sessions to learners. We have provision for a range of courses, up to and including Level 3, across our full time and apprenticeships courses. Our learners are of mixed ability and age, which will keep the role challenging and interesting yet thoroughly rewarding. As a technician, you will spend at least 17 hours per week developing and maintaining the layout of the workshops, maintaining tools for use by staff and students, preparing materials and working space for learners' assessments and ensuring all activities are undertaken within current college and H&S guidelines. You will be part of the Construction team and will need to develop working relationships with all staff within the college. PPE will be supplied and is required to be worn at all times.
