NOTTINGHAM UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS NHS TRUST SPECIALIST FELLOW IN QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & ADULT CRITICAL CARE Get paid to develop your CV! Applications are invited for the position of Specialist Fellow in Quality Improvement (QI) and Adult Critical Care, for a twelve month period commencing flexibly throughout the year, at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). Within Critical Care at NUH there is extensive hospital management experience with the Medical Director, Clinical Director for Acute Pathway and Clinical Director for Urgent Care all being Consultant Intensivists. Within our team we have a dedicated QI Lead. These posts would best suit trainee intensivists and anaesthetists wishing to develop their CV either before taking up a consultant post, or as an OOPE/ OOPP or before entering ST3. Others may apply. 50% of the successful candidate's time will cover the critical care on-call rota. The remaining 50% is paid nonclinical time whereby you will be expected to develop a specialist interest in QI. The post is EWTD compliant and pay banding is full 1A. Applicants must be doctors who hold full/ limited registration with the GMC. In addition to a minimum of two years' post-foundation training (including a minimum of 3 months' Critical Care & 12 months' anaesthetics) they must have successfully completed Primary FRCA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification. Prior NHS experience of working in Critical Care or Anaesthesia is essential. This post is not recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dean, Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine or by the Royal College of Anaesthetists. NUH consists of the Queens Medical Centre Campus and the Nottingham City Hospital Campus. Duties will be based at both campuses. On the QMC campus the critical care area is divided into a 21-bedded intensive care (level 3 beds) and a 20-bedded level 2 HDU. The critical care area at the City campus has 17 beds that are used flexibly for level 2 and 3 care. Between the three units we see approximately 4500 admissions per year. Our critical care areas are recognised for training by the Royal Colleges of Anaesthetists, Physicians, Surgeons, Emergency Medicine and by the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine). There is a well-established weekly educational programme, a well co-ordinated audit programme, as well as a well-developed research programme. This post is whole time and is covered by the Medical and Dental Staff Terms and Conditions of Service.
