Model definition and development required to ensure costs for business functions are correctly apportioned to enable cost recovery through fees mechanism. Model development 15 (Total 40 days) Region South East England Organisation the work is for Maritime & Coastguard Agency Job Description About the work Who the specialist will work with * Directorate of Maritime Safety & Standards * Directorate of UK Ship Register * Directorate of Strategy & Corporate Services * Chief Financial Officer Head of Strategy, Innovation & Transformation * Survey & Inspection Change Director * Senior Finance Business Partner/Project Accountant What the specialist will work on Produce a model that uses direct and indirect cost apportionment across all business functions in order to determine the appropriate fee rates that will ensure full cost recovery for each of the fee charging activities. It will also consider the use of MCA estate and report on MCA's compliance with the Government's Estate Strategy. The model will be flexible in order to achieve targets for the space allocation for employees and initiatives such as 80% desking. It will report on the under- or over-capacity of resource levels for business functions in relation to Government guidelines. Work setup Address where the work will take place Many of the key stakeholders are based at the MCA headquarters in Southampton. The candidate will be based at this location, although occasional travel to other MCA estate within the UK may be required. MCA Headquarters, Maritime & Coastguard Agency, Southampton Working arrangements The candidate will be based at the MCA headquarters. The majority of stakeholder engagement will take place at the headquarters and there will be a requirement to interact with the Senior Finance Partner at this location throughout model development. Occasional travel other MCA may be required and expenses will be paid at MCA rates. Qualifications Skills and experience Essential skills and experience * Financial/Business Analyst: Collaborating with stakeholders to identify the inputs required for development of the model * Systems/Costing Accountant: Collaborating with stakeholders and using own initiative to refine the inputs and to develop the outputs of the model * Financial Modelling: Creating, testing and documenting the model Nice-to-have skills and experience * Experience of business function cost apportionment for developing fees mechanisms * Ability to work confidently with financial data Additional Information All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
