Job Description

We are currently working in connection with our Public Sector Client to recruit a Monitoring & Co-ordination Officer for the Lisburn area. Full-time, temporary position consisting of 37 hours per week, at a rate of 16.28 per hour. The post holder will be responsible for participating in the provision of an effective, economic and equitable Building Control Service and to assess plans and fees, and inspect building work to ensure compliance with Building Regulations. Main duties include: * Carry out a range of duties and tasks associated with the administration, application and enforcement of Building Regulations and allied legislation, this includes planning assessments and inspecting projects on site to ensure they meet the functional and other requirements of the appropriate legislation * Plan and prioritise work programmes as directed and agreed by the Line Manager to ensure that all duties and tasks are carried within the specified time and performance targets * Keep abreast of all changes and amendments to the Building Regulations and allies legislation and investigate advances in new building techniques, systems and materials to ensure compliance with appropriate legislation * Participate as required, in any pre-consultation service and to consult, liaise and advise builders, developers, agents and the public on Building Regulatory and other technical and legislative matters * Participate as required in Project Teams for service developments, continuous improvement initiatives and in the training of Building Control Staff * Participate in the development and achievement and achievement of the Service, Departmental and Group Strategic business plans * Be innovative and creative in the delivery of the service utilisation modern management theory and practice towards the goal of continuous improvement Essential criteria: * A relevant Third Level qualification or Corporate membership of an appropriate building related professional institute * A minimum of 3 years' experience in all of the following areas; - Building construction and current building techniques - Practical application of the Building Regulations - Interpreting working drawings and specifications in accordance with Building Regulations * The ability to compile and keep accurate records, reports, diagrams and drawings * Competent in the use of Microsoft Office products For more information on this role or any other vacancy please call us on 028 9023 4324.
