Nature and Scope EDF Renewables UK ("EDF RUK") is one of the UK's leading renewable energy companies, specialising in wind power and battery storage technology. EDF RUK develops, builds, operates and maintains wind farms and other renewable technologies throughout their lifetime. The EDF RUK portfolio of nearly 1,000 MW consists of 35 wind farms - including two offshore wind farms - and one of the largest operational battery storage units in Europe. In addition, EDF RUK is seeking to deliver further growth from its own development pipeline or though securing new acquisitions of projects and has more than 2GW consented, in planning and development. In line with our growth plans we are seeking an experienced Health and Saftey Specialist to join our team to support our operations across the Scottish and Boarders Region. Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, the successful applicant will provide support and advice to all Asset Operations teams and projects with primary focus on Health and Safety needs with some Environmental and Quality system crossover responsibilities. The role will be active in visiting assets (Wind Farms, Service Centres, Battery and Solar sites etc.) across the UK, promoting a Zero Harm H&S culture while establishing strong professional relationships with colleagues out in the field based businesses. Based at either our Durham or Edinburgh office or home based you will work flexibly to provide required services in response to the business's needs. Day to day you will: Maintaining the highest levels of H&S to comply with all statutory and legal requirements. Encouraging and driving forward safe working practices at all times and oversee and assist the deployment of all H&S procedures in the company. Acting as a role model for health and safety, environment and quality and encouraging setting highest standards ensuring they are benchmarked as part of continual improvement Provide assistance in creating a working environment where H&S is seen as a fundamental priority and individuals take responsibility for their own actions. Providing support and advice across Major Component Exchange CDM activity. Take a lead in delivery of emergency exercises and drills across the Asset portfolio Ensure the monitoring and comprehension of the local HSMS management system. Contribute to the risk management process for risks generated by the company's activities (risk evaluation and prevention plans). Carry out internal and prepare for ISO external audits. Prepare and coordinate H&S based engagement and inspection programmes Contribute to communication with regards to H&S issues and systems aimed at new personnel Training site staff at all levels in health and safety related topics. Participate in drawing up an annual H&S plans and reports including measuring the efficacy of actions taken Accompany subcontractors with regards to H&S issues in collaboration with Asset Operations and Maintenance teams. The Person As Health and Safety Specialist you will be able to demonstrate excellent influencing skills combined with commercial understanding and technical insight, either from the Renewables or a similar industry. You will have experience in a similar role with an ability to work in and manage activities across evolving and growing business. Whilst navigating easily between a wide range tasks will be integral to this role so will strong analytical skills and a continuous improvement mind set. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience Be qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent and have appropriate Engineering, Construction or Renewables experience and be a member of IOSH working towards being a Chartered member Demonstrable experience in H&S positions, preferably renewable wind generation onshore / offshore Be able to provide practical H&S advice, assistance and support to field teams Effective English written and verbal communication skills, on a one-to-one basis as trainer or coach pitched at all levels of the business The ability to i
