Company Description Founded in August 2012, International Women's Initiative (IWI) is a Community Interest Company (CIC) working towards the promotion of women's rights and gender equality around the world. We believe that we will achieve this through the creation of volunteer and professional networks and the provision of a platform for engaging in constructive commentary and ideas-sharing in the field. Funds raised by the organisation are used to support and resource partnerships with community-based organisations or projects. We are currently focusing on advancing our Safe Birthing Programme which seeks to reduce the high levels of maternal mortality in the Amolatar District, Uganda. Job Description International Women's Initiative (IWI) is currently advertising for a Corporate Relations Assistant f. IWI is a non-profit organisation that seeks to improve women's conditions worldwide and we currently need help to raise funds for IWI and our first project, the Safe Birthing Programme. We are currently in need of a Corporate Relations assistant that will help us to implement the various tasks outlined in the fundraising strategy. The position is for a three month period, but with a view of a potential extension. Position Details Where: The position is carried out remotely from your home , for this reason it is essential that you have access to private internet and a computer, as well as good organisational and time management skills. Duties: Reporting directly to the Operations Director, Amaranta Thompson or the Corporate Relations Director when hired, the Corporate Relations Assistant will be expected to support the fundraising efforts of the organisation. This may happen in various capacities and according to what the organisations needs are at the time. But tasks may include writing applications to major donors, finding other ways of funding through online platforms, devising fundraising campaigns alongside the communications teams as well as various other tasks. Responsibilities may include: Income Generation - Research fundraising opportunities for the International Women's Initiative to participate in relevant events and discussions etc to garner support and promote the work of the foundation - Assisting the Corporate Relations Director and project managers in identifying new sources of funding - Gathering and disseminating information from online weekly fundraising bulletins and updates - Supporting the Corporate Relations Director in the preparation of new grant applications, including editing, proof reading and managing online application forms - Compiling and sending out information packs to potential donors and supporters - Managing supplies of all fundraising materials to support income generation Donor Communications - Processing all donations and grant payments - Maintaining electronic filing systems for all grants and donations - Acknowledging donations and writing thank you letters - Maintaining all fundraising records on IWI database - Supporting the Corporate Relations Director in preparing update reports for all donors as required - Assist in the improvement and maintenance of the fundraising pages on the website Events and Campaigns Once or twice a year, IWI carries out awareness raising online fundraising campaigns and events to which we want to attract potential donor. The post holder will work in partnership with the Corporate Relations Director to advance our programme of fundraising and profile-raising events, supported by the events team. Main duties will include: - Supporting the IWI's Events team and the Corporate Relations Director to organise events that may include talks, drinks receptions and film screenings as well as online campaigns that are generally based around our website - Liaising with suppliers and other relevant people to order prepare materials for fundraising events/campaigns and preparing all materials in advance Grant and Information Management - When appropriate the post holder will be given specific grants to manage, under the supervision of the Corporate Relations Director, tasks under this remit include: - Researching and writing reports for funders in collaboration with project teams - Managing budgets in collaboration with the Finance team and Operations Director General - Interact and communicate effectively with Operations Director, Executive Director, other site personnel and research participants - Undertake any other ad hoc tasks as requested by IWI management - Comply with all the rules and regulations as applicable to assigned duties Qualifications Person Specification: Essential: - BA in relevant field - Previous voluntary experience within the third sector - Ability to work independently as well as in a team when required - Initiative, self-motivation and great organisational skills - Flexibility to adapt to varying workloads throughout the three months. - Good oral, written and interpersonal skills required - Excellent communication skills with
