Your new role We are looking to recruit a Lead Support Engineer based in Stoke Gifford to work as a part of Operations Engineering team reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role is responsible to act as system engineering lead on regional fleet for safety and reliability issues, Lead Engineer for Shift Support Engineers staff at local TMC, ensuring workload management is in place and work streams are co-ordinated with TMC. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables: * Be the point of contact at given TMC for engineering activities * Monitor reliability trends and liaise with Reliability engineers * Liaise with Lead Engineer at other TMC(s) to ensure work-streams are co-ordinated * Management of the Shift Engineers at the given location * Implement and/or review containment actions for SRDs; ensure corrective actions are identified and are in place * Ensure safety and reliability issues are understood and containment/corrective actions are identified and in place, where necessary * Ensure SoWs and FFGs are in place and fit for purpose for common failures * Ensure reports on technical issues and major repairs are issued in a timely manner * Ensure procedures for material replacement & post fitment testing are in place and adequate * Where required, act as Lead Engineer for engineering changes * Feedback potential optimisation opportunities for planned maintenance to Optimisation team * Support with escalated technical issues and investigations on systems * Attend meetings with customer and other stakeholders as required * Support Reliability Centred Maintenance workshops as a system expert * Feed back to materials engineering to optimise spare parts lists and levels of repair (LORA) * Ensure XFRACAS 'Problems' are regularly updated with all the latest information * Ensure issues and work packages are recorded & escalated through XFRACAS where necessary * Support development and configuration of digital monitoring tools and technology * Work with reliability engineers to ensure FMEA, FMECA, FTAs & RBDs are updated with return of experience. * Form part of the Engineering On Call Schedule * Build key relationships with suppliers * Deputise for Engineering Manager during holidays / periods of absence. About you Essential * Must be able to provide leadership and strong management * Previous experience in product improvement and reliability engineering on UK rolling stock * Position holder must be able to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company * HND or equivalent qualified engineer * Membership of a recognised accredited engineering body Behavioural * Sound knowledge of, and compliance to, rules and regulations * Good written and verbal communication skills * Able to represent Hitachi in a professional manner at all times Why Hitachi Rail?
