Job Description

Software Engineering Lead Native, microservices, React, Redux, Mongo, Node * Engineering Lead to join a group of brands whose websites are used globally by tens of thousands of people every week * Offices in the UK and US although no issues with someone working predominantly remotely * Hands on role with opportunity to progress to engineering manager * Salary to £70,000 + a host of benefits including unlimited holiday and travel opportunities to California! Working with the wider team you'll be responsible for the rebirth / build of a range of websites from architecture to delivery. You'll dismantle the legacy and rebuild in modern technologies - think native, microservices, React, Redux, Mongo, Node etc. You'll also be an effective leader - you'll know how to get the most of teams of engineers and drive quality. These aren't simple brochure sites - these are sites with complex data-rich back-ends that are being updated in real time. People make decisions based on the data they present therefore downtime isn't an option! What you'll be doing: * Growing and managing a team of talented Software Engineers fostering a culture of excellence * Acting as a hands on lead, mucking in and writing code when it's necessary * Establishing ways of sharing code across multiple applications and platforms * Encouraging TDD * Optimising systems and applications to reduce costs of infrastructure * Ensuring your team is writing clean, well-documented, future proof code * Fixing issues with performance And probably a load of other stuff which you'd expect from an Engineering Lead role! You'll come with: * Experience in leading a team of engineers, and getting the best out of them whilst keeping them happy * The ability to solve problems and think on your feet * A passion for building amazing products that are used by the masses * Experience maintaining high traffic websites * Microservices experience * AWS and associated services Lambda, EC2 etc * Experience in Continuous integration / deployment This role will require occasional travel down to their UK office which is down the M5 just past Exeter.
