Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist in Personality Disorder Band 8a GROW INTO A NEW ROLE An exciting and rarely available opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist to join our team. We wish to appoint a highly experienced Clinical/ Counselling Psychologist to a band 8a role in the Personality Disorder Stream. This post sits in the Personality Disorder Stream to assist in the development and delivery of the personality disorder pathway across locality teams. The role will require you to provide Provide leadership within the Personality Disorder stream, alongside the PD stream coordinator and lead for the stream Specialist assessment and treatment of patients within the Personality Disorders Stream Support the PD pathway lead in ensuring the effective functioning of the care pathways available within the Personality Disorder Stream and the provision of specialist clinical supervision arrangements for colleagues as required Take a central role in the development of the assessment and brief intervention pathway for people with Personality Disorder presenting in Haringey Locality teams To support the effective functioning of the care pathways available within the Personality Disorder Team and to support the provision of specialist clinical supervision arrangements for colleagues as required Maintain a clinical role within the treatment team, formulating and implementing appropriate treatment plans within the clinical model of the service, namely Structured Clinical Management and Mentalisation-Based treatments. Liaise with other professionals to contribute to the establishment of continuity of care across the services. Offer specialist clinical supervision to colleagues as well as expert advice and teaching to other professionals. Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team's policies and procedures. Provide supervision to trainees and teaching to mental health service staff To carry out audit to help inform policy and service developments within the area served by the team/service. The successful applicant will join our PD Treatment Pathway. The PD stream offers Mentalisation based treatment and Structured Clinical management to this group of patients. Mentalisation-based treatment (MBT) is a modified form of psychodynamic psychotherapy, adapted and developed to work effectively with the problems encountered by people diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. In house training will be available in this model. Structured Clinical Management (SCM) is a structured time-limited treatment intervention for patients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. The Personality Disorder stream was previously called The Halliwick Personality Disorder Service and was the birth place of MBT where the treatment was developed and manualised by Peter Fonagy and Anthony Bateman. The PD Pathway became part of the Haringey locality teams in January 2018. Haringey Community Services have considerable experience in providing and hosting training, ranging from clinical placements for a variety of professionals to organised training events including a range of psychological therapies. Within the PD Pathway there is an emphasis on team based multi-disciplinary decision making in the treatment planning which lends itself to creating a supportive environment for staff. The successful applicant will be expected to provide a specialist service to clients in treatment within the personality disorder stream. The successful applicant will be expected to hold a caseload of patients within the stream who may be part of the MBT programme or Structured Clinical Management, CPA and as a Key Clinician, meaning they are the point of contact for the patient and other professionals involved in the patient's care Within the PDS the successful applicant will have a broad range of duties; including contributing to the provision of both group and individual psychological work. A psychological focus is central to the treatment programmes. Supervision is central to the work we do. You will receive both Group and individual supervision. The service as a whole aims to promote excellence and innovation in the provision of care to patients with challenging and complex presentations.
